Welcome new graduate students Daphka Joseph (MS Biology), Michael Sioson (MS Biology), and Kelsey Coates (PhD, IDPBBC, NSF GRFP Awardee)!
Undergraduate Kai Davis presents research on environmental stressor effects on plant-microbe associations.
REU: Resilience and Adaptation to Coastal Change Across Communities (C2C) Research Symposium! Undergraduates Matthew Mair (Appalachian State University) and Kate Lamkin (Colorado College) present their research co-mentored by graduate student Mahesh Tapas and economist Greg Howard, ecological engineer Randall Etheridge, and microbial ecologist AP! Interdisciplinary teams rule!!!
Undergraduate Coastal REU Matthew Mair presents at the Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium and the watershed resilience team goes for ice cream!
This summer, new MS Biology student Daphka Joseph (left) & undergraduate NCGlaxoSmithKline summer researcher Celina Mckoy (right) join the lab this summer!
Rachel Gittman and Doctoral Student Mary-Margaret McKinney collaborate with the Peralta lab! Living shorelines + marsh sediment microbial management = funding from the North Carolina Sea Grant! We started a pilot project at Hammocks Beach State Park, and undergraduate Kai Davis' senior honors project will examine how salinity and microbial inocula influence plant productivity.
Congrats to undergraduates Surinder Gill and Kai Davis for recognition of research and scholarship awards! Surinder was awarded an Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities Grant and Kai was awarded the Slate Family Scholarship.
Undergraduates Surinder Gill (left) and Roman Mirra (right) present work at the 2023 RCAW Poster Session.
First time ever getting gifted Filipino polvoron delights!!! AP, of course, answers back with popcorn (yep - that striped bag has popcorn in it)! Science discussions are best done with friends and food!!!
Roman Mirra (left) and Surinder Gill (right) present research posters at the 2023 Research and Creative Achievement Week at ECU! Awesome job!!!
Congrats to new MS Biology grads Aied and Daniya and BS Biology grad Ivan Martinez-Santoyo!!! So lucky to have these early career microbial ecologists in the Peralta Lab! They will be missed!!!
