AP's Teaching + Outreach Philosophy - in brief
I am deeply committed to broadening participation and increasing recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups in STEM. I leverage place-based ecological research experiences to broaden participation of individuals of all ages in exploring the microbial world. I emphasize how microbes are critical to keeping our water, soils, and air clean. My goals as an educator are to motivate students in the pedagogical process, challenge students through problem solving, and provide students an enriching learning environment. I am genuinely enthusiastic to share knowledge and provide a positive but challenging environment for students to foster enthusiasm for learning science. |
