Summer 2015 - Sampling baseline conditions at the Greenville Town Creek culvert (pre-construction of green infrastructure to improve stormwater management). We are investigating how the biotic and engineered components of urban stormwater processing interact in order to enhance nitrogen removal capacity. Just a few months later, heavy rains caused the conditions in the lower right. Good thing plans are in the works for the restoration! Summer 2015 - In just a short time from planting to the first year of establishment, this undersized wetland (relative to the parking lot size) is really thriving! Thanks to Eban Bean (now at Univ. of Florida) for starting this project and leading the design and construction. Eban is seen giving a tour of the wetland to my microbial ecology class the following year. Stay tuned for updates on the CSW happenings.
